Teac 3440 side panels after second step in the Walrus Oil Furniture Finish … I like to get the wood sealed nicely before I drill holes for mounting. This also allows me to see which side is best (visually) to face outward after I get early in the finishing process. I always look at grain direction so that once I select the left and right panel orientation, that I feel it has a balanced look to it.

I hate using the term “game changer”, but I do have to apply it to the new Rega Elex Mk4 and how it forced changes to our demo setup. The primary system now starts with the @regaresearch Elex Mk4. The Rega P6 with Cardas wire and Ania Pro connects to the Fono MC via Cardas Clear Phono, and Cardas Clear Reflection to the Elex. A Marantz CD6006 is acting as cd transport to the internal DAC on the Elex via Cardas Clear Digital coaxial cable. All this is driving the 92dB efficient @fyneaudio F702’s in walnut via @cardas_audio Clear Cygnus biwire speaker cables. This configuration excels beyond my expectations. The detail, dynamics, imaging and scale just make me grin. Everything works together seamlessly for a revealing experience. I will say one thing that is important. Due to the dual concentric design and revealing nature, you will want to feed it high quality recordings of music with space around the individual instruments and vocals. In other words, you’ll love playing jazz, folk, bluegrass, R&B, any kind of instrumental, or vocal focused music the requires good imaging. It may surprise you that there is some rock, pop, and electronic music that sounds amazing. But again, your media and source need to be of high quality. The vintage system revolves around completely restored Sansui definition series gear, including the Ca-3000 and BA-3000. For now, the vintage system will play through the Focal Chora 806 speakers until they sell. They will get replaced with a pair of @mofi_electronics SourcePoint 8’s on @solidsteel_hifi SS-6 flat black stands. The vintage system will be connected with Cardas cable as well, including the Nakamichi Dragon, custom Lenco turntable with @audiotechnicausa ART9XI on Rega tonearm with Cardas rewire kit, and Akai GX-635D open reel tape deck.
