I’m starting to crank up production on small batches of cable lifters. All made by hand, which means hand sanding as well as using a branding iron on each one. The final product has an heirloom look and nice to the touch. I am using European Beech wood from Germany which is denser than myrtle wood. The final hand finish is with Walrus Oil Furniture Finish and allowed to cure for two days. I am selling these in sets of six for the intro price of $100 including Free shipping in the USA. These cabinets take longer than you think to match the OEM interior dimensions and mounting points, not to mention bookmatching the wood to achieve the depth of these monster receivers. The shops that CNC cases have the accuracy of a computer (digital). My goal is perfect, by human (analog) terms. As a small business, I have to be honest and say these pay minimum wage to build. For that reason, I have to be careful what I take on in the limited time I have. Part of what does give me great satisfaction is to get generous reviews like this one. This AT-ART9XI is dynamic, wow! Right now, the chain is 9XI > Rega RB220 with @cardas_audio wire upgrade > Cardas Clear Phono cable to MoFi StudioPhono > Cardas Iridium interconnect to Sansui CA-3000. This is not the ideal set up as I am waiting for the Sansui CA-3000 to be done at the shop so I can rearrange components. I suppose what I’m getting at, is that the current set up is not ideal for adding this turntable back into the system just yet. So it is really amazing to hear how good it sounds right now. Because honestly I am pretty sure that most people would be completely content with this as it is, without fiddling around with it. Tomorrow, I will probably pull the Rega out of the system so that I can try out the Rega Fono MC phono stage for comparison. That final stage has Cardas Clear Reflection connecting it to the Sansui Preamplifier. I wish you could hear the Fyne Audio F501 SP floorstanders. The downward firing BassTrax gives these speakers a solid foundation with rhythm and punch. Rega’s internal wiring has gotten better recently, but there is a reason I use Cardas Audio. This P6 has gotten an injection of high end detail and transparency, along with some low end grunt! Cardas Clear Phono cable with DIN to RCA connects the P6 to a Rega Fono MC MK4. Cardas Clear Reflection connects the Fono MC to the preamplifier. The NEO power supply DIN connector was upgraded to a Chord Shawline cable. My first custom AR XA that my Dad gave me is still

My first custom AR XA that my Dad gave me is still in the main system. Today, the cheap feet got replaced by some really nice Rega RP6 metal feet. Yes, only three feet. Why? Well, three reasons. First, has to do with using three feet, instead of four. There are two advantages. One is that it's easier to level. But more importantly, there are now only three ways for vibration to get to the deck, instead of four. So 25% less. Now we are talking about small vibrations, not accidently knocking into the audio rack. Second, is to go with the Rega RB250 arm that Johnnie at Audio Origami rewired and customized for me years ago. Notice the custom brass end stub and counterweight. I wanted to pay homage to the original brass counterweight. So now, two elements of the table are made by Rega. Third reason is simply that I like the clean look of these. For now, I'm planning on keep the original walnut plinth (that has never been refinished) to see how long I can enjoy it. My custom AR XA tables sport taller, thicker, exotic wood that honestly look better than this. But, this is a piece of audio history passed down to me, so there is that. Before you ask, these feet are discontinued. I may pick up a few sets of these, if possible, for upcoming custom builds. I have two in cue, one with White Oak and visible corner joinery, and then some pricey Morado (type of Rosewood) that cost $130. Yikes. Got Grado hum? No worries. The Hagerman Technology Humbucker works. On my AR XA / Rega RB250 / Grado Gold3, hum is cut in half. To be fair, the hum was only noticeable at the first null point and then the runout with the volume up pretty loud. You can’t capture the realistic look in images. This Rega P1 is a fantastic value for this customer even with swapping out the stock Carbon cartridge for an Audio Technica ATVM95E.
